Indians (meaning Americans, not India) have been using marijuana for generations for medicinal purposes. They used it to eat, drink, and even some ointments to be regularly rubbed on bites or stings of bugs, as well as cuts caused by daily interaction with mother nature. It is important to remember that cannabis is not a dangerous, intoxicating substance that injures our bodies, but it can be used to support it for many purposes. There are several books and pages on the medicine of nature that provide recipes for these medicines that are incredibly useful if you are able to access the said ingredients.

Several states in the U.S. finally gave in to allow medical marijuana; however, they have established loopholes in those laws that can get one in a reasonable amount of legal trouble if found with more than a certain amount of it. There are a lot of ideas and theories of conspiracy as to why this is. Some think it's because the government can't figure out how to control their growth and manufacturing as they do with alcohol and tobacco, while others think it's really harmful to the body. Do not forget, when used for pleasure, there are some negative effects of marijuana; namely, one appears to become less articulate and attentive, overeating, and extreme fatigue. We live in a fast-running world, so using cannabis as a recreational drug can dampen the impact of the busy merry-go-round of life somewhat.

Regardless of the legal implications of consuming marijuana, it is hard to open up to public officials speaking about these matters; however, the people have the right to know the true essence of Nature's Gifts and Medicines and fight for the right to use them. Statistically, cannabis is not as detrimental to our culture as alcohol and tobacco, where these two substances tend to affect the population when they are ingested individually.

The culture has come a long way in allowing the use of medical marijuana to some degree, and it is up to us to continue on this path of improvement as it is the right, not our duty, as American citizens to enact societal change.
